Excerpt – The Entity: Episode One

There are just ten days until the first episode of my horror miniseries The Entity goes live on Amazon. So, to mark the occasion, I am posting a short excerpt from the book. Let me know what you think in the comments!

Jett’s ears listened up immediately the moment the word left the real estate agent’s lips.

“Murder?”

He repeated the word in awe. One hand was on the granite countertop to keep him from falling over. The other was on his younger brother’s head to stop him from trying to wrestle every two minutes. Sladen groaned under Jett’s hand and swung his arms around in vain.

“Mom, did you hear that?” Jett called over to his mother.

Clarissa turned away from the cabinets, her arms crossed.

“I’m sorry,” she said, looking to their portly real estate agent. “Did you just say that a murder happened here, Leslie?”

“I did, as a matter of fact,” Leslie said. She twisted her sausage-like fingers together. “I’m required by law to inform you of any and all crimes that have been committed on this property within the past three years, so there’s no point in beating around the bush.”

Sladen managed to stretch far enough to plant a fist into Jett’s stomach. Jett shoved him away, knocking him on the back of the head.

“Will you cut it out?” he said through gritted teeth. “I’m trying to listen!”

His mother, Clarissa, wasn’t going to beat around the bush either. An athletic woman, she stood a foot higher than Leslie’s four foot odd inches and when her arms were crossed you knew she meant business.

“Where did this murder happen?” she asked.

“The master bedroom on the first floor,” Leslie said, who had been all smiles until now. A grave expression settled over her face. “I suppose you want the details?”

The Entity is my first serialized fiction project and I have planned seven volumes that will make up the entire story. If you want Episode One the day it comes out, head over to my pre-order page here and reserve your Kindle copy. I’m debating a physical edition at the moment, so if that materializes, I will be sure to give an update.

Until then, have fun pondering what horrors await the Maxwells in their new home!
