I’ve been silent on the blog for a bit because I’ve got a new toy! I finally got my Wacom Creative Stylus for my iPad and I’ve been trying it out to do some drawings. Of course, most of the drawing was related to my work in progress, and I found myself sketching out another character to add to my binder.
Lionel Moran is an elf (with the ears, of course) and he lives inland with a community of teachers. Having been through a lot in his life so far and witnessing some great injustices, he has dedicated himself to helping others master different forms of magic to help them on their journeys into magical maturity.
As far as medium, this is a mixed medium piece. I drew the outline in pencil in my drawing book since I’m still not as controlled with drawing digital lines, then I scanned the image and imported it to my tablet to do all the coloring and hair/skin effects. I’m also working on loosening up my drawing arm so that my pieces look more fluid. It’s been tricky, but slowly I’m getting better at making the drawing do what I envision. Describing characters and writing dialogue is so much easier! Though I’m toying with the idea of doing some illustrations for chapter headings. That’s way down the line, though.
I hope you have a great weekend!
