The Age Of Knowledge

Kindle 2

This post is an inspirational one for any fellow creatives out there. There is a lot of negativity thrown around in the atmosphere from many different sources. I’m sure that some of these sources don’t realize that they’re being negative, but it happens.

It’s not a secret that I’ve been a creative for my entire life. From the time I was able to hold a crayon and string words and images together I was making something. Living in my own imagination got me though some very tough years, so I can never really give up my creative and optimistic side. It’s been with me for so long that it’s second nature.

For every time I hear someone say how impossible something is, be that publishing a book, doing a painting, learning the piano, or any number of things, I think, “What are you people talking about?”

Of course work is always work. You only get as much as you put into something, but there’s good news. In this age of knowledge and instant information, you have everything you need at your fingertips.

Youtube tutorials take the place of expensive art courses. Open source software takes the place of previously insanely expensive animation and image manipulation programs like Photoshop. Painting is digital and only hindered by your imagination and the precision of your stylus. Writers share their plotting systems and help each other out.

We are truly living in a time where the only thing that is holding us back is our own self doubts.

I urge you to push the negativity away. Believe that you can do it. Because you can do it. (I stole that from Bob Ross. I know it sounds like a cat poster, but it’s true. … Okay, I also stole that from The Lego Movie!)
